Health care services are provided by Community Registered Nurses and a visiting physician, with support from a dedicated group of volunteer emergency medical services attendants.

Services include:
  • Primary health care
  • Treatment of acute conditions
  • Management of chronic disease conditions
  • Basic lab and x-ray services
  • Public Health programs
  • Immunization
  • Communicable disease control
  • Wellness clinics (e.g. well child clinic, well adult clinic)
  • Health Promotion Activities (e.g. blood pressure clinics)

Notes for Visitors:

The Health Centre is not a pharmacy and maintains a small stock of emergency medication only. Visitors should ensure adequate supplies of personal medication prior to travel. The nearest pharmacy is 360 km away in Whitehorse. Anyone receiving health care services at the Health Centre must produce a valid Canadian Health Care Card, or be prepared to pay an outpatient fee. Non-Canadian visitors are required to pay the Outpatient Services Fee as well as any physician fees or other charges that may occur (e.g. ambulance services, laboratory and x-ray services).
Rates for outpatient services are posted in the Health Centre.

Faro is served by experienced nurse practitioners and visiting physicians through regular visits each month.
