PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT – ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICE REDUCTION

COVID-19 UPDATE

Dear residents, businesses, community groups, and stakeholders,

Your health and safety are paramount to us. In light of the rapidly evolving COVID-19 outbreak and Yukon’s public health emergency declaration, the Town of Faro is instituting the following operational changes:

1.      Administrative Office, Programs & Services

a.      Until further notice, the Town Office will be closed to the public effective 12:00pm Wednesday March 18th, 2020. During this time, no in-person administrative support will be available to the public. Residents requiring services are encouraged to contact us via email to arrange for support.

2.      Recreation and Arena Centre

a.      Until further notice, the Recreation and Arena Centre will be closed effective 12:00pm Wednesday March 18th, 2020. All programs scheduled in the next 14 days will be temporarily postponed and rescheduled or cancelled. In the coming days, we will reassess the situation and provide additional updates.

b.      If you have any questions regarding recreation operations, please contact 1-867-994-2375.

 

3.      Public Works Operations

a.      Public Works Operations including the Solid Waste Facility (Landfill) will continue to operate as normal at this time. The Town will re-evaluate the situation and provide further updates as is necessary.

 

4.      Mayor and Council Operations

a.      The Emergency Measures Commission for the Town of Faro has been activated and a closed-door meeting is planned for Thursday March 19th, 2020 at 1:00pm. This committee will be an inter-disciplinary committee which will guide the community’s response to COVID-19.

b.      The Regular Council Meetings scheduled for April 7 and 21 will continue as planned at this time. This is subject to change.

The Town of Faro will continue to evaluate all programs and services and may, with little to no prior notice, cancel, postpone, reduce, or amend the program and service offering to the community.

The Town of Faro is closely monitoring the progress of the COVID-19 pandemic and want to reassure residents, community groups, businesses, and other stakeholders that we will do everything possible to maintain operations.
